This is the first of a six-video series on the book ZEN FLESH ZEN BONES, which you can find on my YouTube Channel. In the new YouTube format, you can watch them in high definition and on a full screen. Be sure to scroll down to find all six in this series.
This book is a classic translation and interpretation of some of the essential Zen Literature, including Zen parables and Koan for meditation as well as the wonderful series, the Ten Ox Herding Pictures.
I discovered this book in the mid-1960s when I was still in High School, and it was one of the major influences that put me on the path to go to Japan and undertake a lifetime study of Aikido, Shodo, and other Zen Arts.
In this video series I revisit the book, and particularly the Ten Ox Herding Pictures, not only for its beautiful poetry and rich metaphors, but also to present what it meant to me in Aikido, and to all of us regardless of our chosen path.
Each video is 3~5 minutes long, and I hope you will take time to tune in and enjoy the journey with me. After you have watched the videos, you may wish to get the book! It is a classic that belongs on any bookshelf.
